Monday, August 4, 2008 11:28 (GMT -0400)
US GSM, CDMA, 3G and multi-protocol mobile networks provider Tecore Networks and systems integrator EGC International have signed an agreement under which the latter will distribute Tecore"s wireless infrastructure in Latin America, Tecore said in a statement.
EGC currently has presence in eight countries across Latin America and has relationships with tier-1 and tier-2 operators in the region.
"With our existing presence and Tecore Networks" portfolio of products, we can further expand our expertise in developing telecom solutions in the region," EGC International sales VP Edgar Gómez said.
Both companies expect to offer wireless services and solutions to several sectors including rural networks, mobile virtual network operators, carrier lab systems and maritime and airborne mobile platforms.
"Highest growth is anticipated from Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico" due to the large rural areas to be built out in these countries, Tecore"s marketing VP, Amit Malhotra told BNamericas.
According to the executive, there are also many opportunities for cellular systems in the government and military, such as rapid deployment systems.
"We believe that there is substantial opportunity for Tecore"s advanced wireless technology, combined with EGC"s wide presence throughout the region and its deep relationships with mobile operators," Malhotra added.
